U.S Court prohibits funds utilized for embryonic stem cell research
The court of U.S. posed a blockage against President Obama’s order in expanding embryonic stem cell research.
The federal judge on Monday passed the order saying Obama’s order is violating the ban on destruction of embryos for research purposes and the fund used for the same is illegal.
The American scientists indulged in embryonic stem cell research shocked to hear the court’s ruling.
Dr.George Q. Daley, director of the stem cell transplantation program at Children’s Hospital Boston told that this court ruling will disrupt all the works carried out by many labs doing the work in embryonic stem cell research.
There were some misunderstanding among scientists regarding the ruling of the court and Dr. Daley said that he thought that according to this ruling health institutes had to use Bush administration rules for future grants.
But Steven H. Aden, senior counsel for the Alliance Defense Fund told that this ruling means that for now the N.I.H can not issue funding grants to embryonic stem cell research projects without any further order from the court.
The judge Lamberth ruled that Obama administration’s policy is illegal and the funds provided for the embryonic stem cell research is leading to destruction of embryo for which federal government can not issue funds.
In the past the embryonic stem cell research used private funding and President Bush allowed federal funding only for 21 cell lines. Now Obama administration allowed to use private funds and he allowed federal money to more than hundred stem cell lines.
Mr. Stoddart, the original plaintiffs in the lawsuit told embryos are preborn human life that should not be destructed and it should be protected and he added that he will not oppose this practice, if there is any other way to extract the stem cells without destroying the embryo.
