An eminent virologist Dr. AC. Mishra, belongs to Mumbai expressed his views about the usage of swine flu vaccine. During his speech, he told that Govt. can not recommend about using the swine flu vaccine to a pregnant mother and it is the doctor to decide who is treating her. He also told that this swine flu vaccine to be administered only under strict supervision of the physician who knows well about the disease and medications.

He added that the Govt. can not recommend giving the vaccine for a pregnant mother in the absence of scientific data. It is the duty of the doctor to take decision after factoring in the risk perception.

He told that pregnancy is already a risk factor for swine flu and there is nothing to add by swine flu vaccine. But the risk perception of the doctor and also that of the family has to be given weightage. He further told that all imported and indigenous swine flu vaccines are well tested and Indian made vaccines are too good as any other vaccine from abroad.
