Low cost HIV/AIDS drugs to be available in India by this Month End

The AIDS Society of India announced that the low cost HIV/AIDS drugs will be available in the country by the end of this October. The secretary of AIDS society of India said that the low cost drugs will be launched during the National Conference of AIDS society of India in Hyderabad. The conference will start from October 29th and during the conference the new medicines can be used for the children who are suffering from HIV/AIDS.

He also added that two Indian pharma companies will merge with the foreign companies which manufacture medicines on HIV/AIDS and the cost of the new drugs will get reduced to 75 to 99 percent when compared to the international market cost.

The drugs like Darunavir which are manufactured by Tibotec Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of Johnson and Johnson will be manufactured in India by Emcure. In India Merck will manufacture an antiviral medicine called Isentress at a very low cost. Isentress is the medication which prevents the HIV cells from multiplying in the human body.
