Fruits may reduce lung cancer risk-study

A recent study revealed that eating five portions of fruits and vegetables per day will reduce lung cancer risk in smokers by 23 percent. Maria Jose Sanchez Perez, coauthor of the study and the director of the Granada Cancer Registry at the Andalusian School of Public health states that the research was about the relationship between diet and lung cancer.
The study states that varied diet of fruits and vegetables will reduce the risk of developing lung cancer in smokers. Consuming more than eight types of vegetables per day will reduce the development of cancer in the long run and the researchers also found that adding a novel fruit or vegetable in the daily diet will decrease the cancer risk by four percent.
