Earlier detection is possible in Alzheimer’s disease – Australian researchers say

The McCusker Foundation is finding for a marker in the brain which will confirm the presence of Alzheimer’s disease. The state government so far has spent more than two million dollars towards the studies related to earlier of detection of Alzheimer’s.
Bill Marmion, the Minister for Science and Innovation told that the funding will facilitate the researchers of the foundation to study thousand of people who are at the risk of developing this disease.
He said now that researchers are injecting a special tracer in to brain and images are studied and the scan compares this brain with normal and healthy brain and this could give an identifier for Alzheimer’s disease in the early stage itself.
He added that this early diagnosis will enable the patient to modify their lifestyle and they could be given a better treatment in curing this disease.
