According to CDC report, antibiotic resistant bacteria are more commonly seen in Enterobacteriaceae and in Klebsiella pneumoniae in the United States.

It further details that all facilities should be made for implementing contact precautions for patients colonized or infected with antibiotic resistant bacteria. But so far there is no recommendation is made as to when to discontinue contact precautions.

Three US states were identified carrying a newly described antibiotic resistant bacteria (NDM 1) at the CDC antimicrobial laboratory and these isolates include Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Enterobactercloacae carried NDM 1 which confers the antibiotic resistance.

The CDC stated earlier NDM 1 found in UK patients were associated with medical treatment they had from India and Pakistan and the three US isolates came from patients who took medical treatment at India.
