1 malaria death for the last 5 consecutive days at BMC

A 33 year old man from Parel died of malaria on Thursday. 170 more positive cases for malaria were identified at Public hospitals on Friday. So far 18 were died of malaria during July alone. The govt. hospital recorded one death every day in the last 5 days and total death stood at 5 within the last five days.(26th July to 30th July)

New positive cases for swine flu are also increasing and the total number of positive cases recorded was 440 for July. Public Hospitals recorded other cases of rainy season illness including gastroenteritis, leptospirosis and dengue.

The expert committee for National Institute of Malaria Research suggested BMC for a health Mandate on builders of construction sites with more than 200 labourers. It insisted to maintain day wise record for health checkups done on the workers.

It also pointed out that all the storm water drainages should be fumigated.

BMC has to work out as to how fogging can be done as most of drainages have been closed for the last three years.
