The first observational study revealed the usage of statins is found to reduce the mortality rate in patients who were confirmed for influenza and hospitalized.
Meredith Vandermeer MPH of the Oregon Public Health Division led the study co-authored by William Schaffner, M.D., professor and chair of Preventive Medicine.
Schaffner said that statins could be combined with anti-viral drugs for treating influenza.

The health ministry of Somalia launches new plan to eradicate cholera and it plans to initiate in the capital Mogadishu and it aims to educate at least one person in every house to get necessary awareness and knowledge to prevent the disease spread and what to do when symptoms occur.

World Health Organization on Friday issued its warning to European nations to be alert and to take strict measures to prevent and contain measles. This has been issued by WHO after it received many reports of measles in wide areas of Europe.
