Actress Aishwarya Rai to help raise funds for fight against AIDS/HIV

Actress Aishwarya Rai though regular to attend on the Cannes red carpet, her visit to the 65th edition of the film festival is having a gracious cause and it is meant to help raise funds to fight against AIDS at an auction there.

Putting on weight by overeating is not gradual, but it takes only hours-Oxford researchers.

A research conducted at Oxford University suggests that fat is accumulated in the waist as soon as we eat and the process of storage is very faster than it was thought earlier.

Odisha village under threat of Chickungunya outbreak.

Odisha: Odisha’s Ganjam district shows the symptoms of Chickungunya and it is feared to have outbreak sooner. Many of the local people at Boxipalli village show symptoms of the mosquito-borne viral disease.
A team of doctors containing malaria officers, para-medical staff arrived the village Boxipalli to collect blood samples to confirm the spread of Chickungunya.
Chief Medical Officer S.K. Patnaik said, ‘everything is being done to control the disease if any is affected.’

Chloe Dennis, 7, the youngest midwife of Britain by assisting mother in delivery.

Gosport, Hants: Chloe Dennis, 7, awoken by her mother’s screams as she nearly reached the point of delivery and contractions started abruptly in the mid night and she didn’t call for any midwife, but did herself.

London: Claire Lomas, 32, physically unfit, paralyzed from chest participated in a marathon with determination and incredible focus crossed the 26.2 miles in 16 days.
Clarie finally inched across the London Marathon finishing line last Tuesday and Clarie let out a roar of joy and pain.

U.S Health experts’ panel recommends a HIV drug as preventive drug in HIV.

An U.S government-funded panel consisting of scientists and doctors recommended a HIV drug used in treating patients with HIV to be used by healthy people to prevent HIV infection.
The recommendation of the panel came to light after an 11-hour meeting of the panel in Silver Spring, Maryland, a lengthy public comments session and heard by U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA), though it is not necessary for FDA to follow panel’s recommendation for approval of a drug.

India accounting 16 lakh child deaths in 2010 mostly in the first 28 days of their life.

India: It is estimated that about 3.9 lakhs children in India died in the year 2010, nearly about 18 percent of the deaths were due to pre-term complications. Pneumonia caused death of one in four under five deaths.
Diarhhea is also found to be one of the cause of death and took 2.1 lakh children accounting to 12.6 percent of all infant deaths.

Wandsworth: A woman suffering post natal depression suspected for killing her two children.

Mrs.Felicia Boots, 34 was arrested on suspicion of killing her two children by smothering. The Police have been given permission to take another 24 hours to enquire her in their custody.
She was arrested following the death of her two children, ten week old son Tej and 14 month old daughter Lily Skye at their house at Wandsworth.

International Nurses Day May 12 to mark the anniversary of birth of Florence Nightingale.
