Electrocardiogram (ECG) – The history and development

The electrocardiogram as the name suggests, is a record of the electrical activity of the heart. Though cardiac electricity was first recorded by Augustus Desire’ Waller in 1887, the most comprehensive work on human electrocardiography was done by William Einthoven in 1903. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for this in 1924.
