Bengali actress Bitasta Saha found dead at her residence, investigation underway

Bitasta Saha's semi-decomposed body was found hanging from the ceiling of her flat in Kasba area, police said.

The actress' body was recovered on Tuesday by police officers who stormed into her flat after her prolonged absence. The police broke into her apartment and found her hanging on the ceiling of her house.

The report said that Bitasta's mother got anxious after she did not answer her repeated calls and thus, visited her house on Tuesday.

"After preliminary investigation, it seems like actress Bitasta Saha committed suicide due to frustration", a police official told IBNS.

Her family, in a police complaint, alleged that the actress was murdered by her boyfriend, DNA reported. "The body appeared to be two-day-old and there was a bit of stench in the room", the police said.

Police are looking into the angle of failed love after social media posts by the actress indicated depression over a relationship. Her wrist was slit.

"We have gone through her Facebook profile and posts, and found quite depressing posts on her wall". The family believes that Bitasta was either murdered or pushed to the edge by Saikat, and she committed suicide.

The actress was reportedly in a relationship with an income tax officer, who according to the victim's family is said to be married. "In one post, she wrote about ending her life. We are checking everything including her call details", police said.
