But amid recent accusations that one of the family-owned brand's members made illegal contributions to help President-elect Donald Trump's campaign, the company is trying to quell tensions and fight back against a boycott of its products.

Linda Bean on Thursday defended her donations to President-elect Donald Trump and said the blacklisting campaign against the company founded by her grandfather is nothing more than "bullying".

On Linda Bean's support for Trump, Gorman said, "Our owners, employees, and customers hold views and embrace causes that are individual and diverse".

"We are deeply troubled by the portrayal of L.L. Bean as a supporter of any political agenda", L.L. Bean Chairman Shawn Gorman said in Facebook post on Sunday.

"Simply put, we stay out of politics", he said, urging Grab Your Wallet to reverse its boycott.

Just when L.L. Bean thought it was out of politics, they pulled it back in. People will support you even more now. She told talk show hosts that the #GrabYourWallet campaign would hurt L.L. Bean workers the most.

Consequently, organizers behind the anti-Trump movement Grab Your Wallet asked its followers to boycott L.L. Bean and called for the removal of Bean from the company's board.

Bean, according to reports by the Associated Press, gave $60,000 to the Make America Great Again LLC, which spent a total of $66,862 on pro-Trump materials, and online and broadcast advertising.

Ms Bean also responded to calls for her to resign from L.L. Bean's board, saying she would "absolutely not" step down. Because that group is registered as a PAC and not a super PAC, individual contributions are capped at $5,000-meaning Bean's donation was $55,000 too much.

Carolyn Beem, spokeswoman for L.L. Bean said, declined to comment.

Coulter said she would take L.L.Bean off the boycott list, if the company severs ties with Linda Bean. Have you ever worn a boot, slipper, or backpack from L.L. Bean? All in all, L.L. Bean seems like one of the better American companies, and disavowing it because of one board member's political views seems shortsighted.

Trump's tweet follows an appearance by Bean on the couch at Fox & Friends this morning.

Even before Trump tweeted out this endorsement, L.L.Bean had been on the defense about Linda Bean's support of Trump.

Grab Your Wallet also opposes companies that "do business with the Trump family", including Amazon, Macy's NASCAR and Walmart.
