Citing how Apple's all-new 2016 MacBook Pro with OLED Touch Bar is "a huge disappointment", Microsoft suggests in a recent blog post that the tides are finally turning in favor of the company's Surface line of self-branded personal computers as the company is now riding high on what it's calling "the best month ever for consumer Surface sales" following a number of Black Friday promotions for the Surface Pro 4.

Despite Microsoft's lack of luck in the smartphone department, the company is able to produce great tablets in the form of Surface Pros.

Microsoft is also set to roll out its next significant update to Windows 10, also-known-as Windows 10 Redstone 2 by spring 2017.

After all the months of waiting for the newest Surface Pro offering, Microsoft maintains its silence about its plans for the Surface Pro 5. If latest rumors are to be believed, the tablet cum laptop will have a pocket-burning price to run the top class specs and features.

With the Kaby Lake chip, Surface Pro 5 will have no problem running with Thunderbolt 3 ports that promise up to 40 GB per second data transfer speeds.

Microsoft released the Surface Pro 4 in October 2015. It is likely that the Redmond company will launch its next-gen Surface device along with its next big software update to Windows 10.

"Our trade-in program for MacBooks was our best ever, and the combination of excitement for the innovation of Surface coupled with the disappointment of the new MacBook Pro - especially among professionals - is leading more and more people to make the switch to Surface", said Brian Hall, Microsoft's Vice President of Marketing. This strengthens the hunches that Microsoft will unveil the Surface Pro 5 in 2017.

Furthermore, recent rumors have hinted that Microsoft intends on introducing a revamped Surface Pen in the Surface Pro 5 which will be created to recharge directly from a port built into the two-in-one hybrid. The base model could cost $899 and the price may go up to $1,599, writes iTech Post.

As for the device's accessories, the Surface Pro 5 should come with an improved Surface Pen. An enhanced battery with USB-C support is also possible.

Microsoft's 12 Days of Deals holiday promotion kicked off on December 5 so many deals are already gone, but there are a few left until the promo expires on December 16.
