Sherri had been missing for three weeks after she was abducted by two armed Hispanic women while out for a jog in her hometown of Redding. Sherri did her best in providing the descriptions, but was not able to provide a detailed description because of the assailants covering their faces.

The California mom who said she was kidnapped, tortured and starved was "coughing up blood" because she was screaming so desperately for someone to stop their vehicle after she was dumped by the side of the road, her husband said in a new interview. He told the AP on Monday that investigators have no reason to doubt Sherri's harrowing tale.

"Sherri was taken from us for 22 days, and suffered incredibly through both intense physical agony and severe mental torture", Keith Papini said in the statement released to Good Morning America Tuesday.

The abductors may have been trying to humiliate and wear down Ms Papini by branding her and cutting off her long hair, Bosenko told "Good Morning America".

"We are thankful that Sherri has been reunited with her family and ask that you keep the Papini family in your thoughts and prayers throughout the holiday season".

"My first sight was my in a hospital bed". The bridge of her nose broken.

Bosenko said he wasn't aware Keith Papini was going to release the information about his wife's battered condition and said it's possible the details could affect the integrity of the investigation.

Bosenko declined to elaborate on the branding, saying only that it was a message, not a symbol. They also have a handgun with them and the authorities are now searching for Sherri's abductors.

"Suspect No. 1 was the younger of the two suspects".

Incident commanders said the blazes started with the human-caused Chimney 2 Fire, which was reported in the park November 23. Gatlinburg remained under an emergency evacuation order, with an overnight curfew in place, according to the agency.

He added that she weighed only 87 lbs. and her long, blonde hair had been chopped off.

Papini's chain was about a quarter-inch thick and her wrists were restrained with hose clamps, an officer told police dispatchers. She had pierced ears. She had thin eyebrows.

Police said they are still looking for two female suspects and they are investigating whether the attack could have been racially motivated.

"She described the older one as having straight black hair with graying color and thick eyebrows". "Further, the suspects concealed their faces in an attempt to hide their identities from her", the sheriff said. On Friday, ABC's 20/20 says it plans to air an interview with Keith Papini, Sherri's husband. Her cellphone and headphones were found near where she had last been seen, about a mile from her home, investigators said.

Sherri Papini's abduction has drawn local and national media interest. Bosenko said Wednesday that detectives traveled to MI as part of their investigation when she was still missing, but he said that so far none of those earlier leads appear linked to her abduction. That 2003 blog post can be read here and was originally published on the website Skinheadz.com, which is now defunct, according to the Sacramento Bee.

Keith Papini is calling the rumor of a "race war" a "malicious prank", saying that Sherri Papini is not racist.

Some comments made by Keith Papini were released to the media in advance, according to Daily Mail.

Cody Salfen, a private investigator based in Campbell, was hired by Papini's family about one week after she disappeared.
