Stein and others want an audit and recount of Election Day voting results after reports that voting security experts alerted Clinton's campaign to the possibility of hacks in key counties. "But after each county certified its results, the lead shrunk to 10,704, with the biggest chunk coming from Wayne County, which showed that Clinton had gotten 565 more votes than originally tallied by the county".

Stein, who does not stand to win anything if the results are changed, said her effort is "not meant to help Clinton".

Trump was repeatedly criticized before the election for warning that the outcome could be "rigged" and refusing to say if he would accept the results if Clinton won. It takes 270 votes in the Electoral College to win the presidency.
