We have to keep alert always. When I would say this earlier, they (critics) would tear my hair out.

Expressing his situation over his silence during the recent past Prime Minister Narendra Modi said when he talked about Army that it did not believe in speaking but in action he faced criticism. "They just saved the lives of their fellow countrymen", the Prime Minister said.

The Prime Minister said that India has never fought a battle for land or for subjugation, or attacked anyone but "when it comes to values or question of life and death it has never backed out".

He reminded the audience that the uniformed men armed with weapons also had a humane face. "Seeing three to four soldiers walk by, people stand up and applaud, clap for them", the PM said. "The Army did not turn away during Srinagar floods and conducted rescue and relief operation, and helped people in distress", he said.

He added that three years ago there were displeasing flood in Srinagar which even hard to manage for the government. "So does our Defence Minister", he said amid a raging political debate, wherein opposition leaders have accused his government of trying to convert the surgical strikes into electoral advantage. Thousands of Indians were stranded in Yemen and their lives were hanging between life and death.

"Even in worldwide peacekeeping operations, Indian forces have served for long", he said. Previous governments only made promises, and some were smart enough to make little budgetary allocation of a few hundred crores. "Nothing else matters", he added.

Our effort is to make India self-reliant in defence production. "I am sure a day will come when we will also export weapons". "We have a lot of talent".

"It is the call of humanity that inspires our armed forces when they are helping people during natural disasters".

He added that "Shourya Smarak is not a memorial, it's a temple and its not a War Memorial" He also claimed that the GDP growth rate have reached to 7.5, which is much more better than China. Union Minister for Defence, Manohar Parrikar is also seen.

Parrikar said that the inauguration of the memorial is happening at a time when soldiers displayed extraordinary courage and valor on 29 September.
