The 36-year-old former Scotland striker was arrested in connection with an incident at an upmarket restaurant, which happened hours after this team's humiliating Old Firm defeat at Celtic Park.

The former Scotland worldwide, who also played for Celtic earlier in his career, was reported to the country's procurator fiscal following an incident at Da Luciano, an Italian restaurant in Bothwell, South Lanarkshire.

Miller is facing an assault charge after a bar brawl which erupted hours after his side's 5-1 defeat.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A man of 36 was arrested and is the subject of a report to the procurator fiscal".

He is now in his second spell with Rangers, having spent the 2000/01 season with the club, and has 69 Scotland caps to his name.

The veteran front-man is in his third spell at Ibrox and has scored 86 goals in 204 games for the club.

Warburton confirmed that Miller will be included in Rangers' matchday squad for the weekend's Scottish Premiership clash against Aberdeen, pledging the club's support to the player. Joey Barton was suspended for three week after a training ground spat with Andy Halliday and Warburton in reaction to the defeat.
